Lower Calorie Recipe for Healthy Weight Control

Some dogs can be particularly prone to weight gain, which in turn can lead to mobility problems or increase the risk of certain health conditions. In these cases swapping to a “light” dog food can be a simple and effective way to control weight when fed strictly in accordance with the instructions.

This recipe has been specifically formulated with a high meat content (minimum 28% chicken) to ensure its appeal for even fussy dogs.  At the same time, high calorie grains have been removed, and instead replaced with a range of delicious vegetables which provide a more controlled dose of energy.

High Quality Hypoallergenic Ingredients

Unlike many competing pet foods which use cheap fillers and grains like maize or wheat, this recipe has instead been formulated with sensitivities in mind. This hypoallergenic formula places all-natural, healthy ingredients at its core, and uses no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

Slow Release Vegetables for Controlled Energy

Vegetables such as sweet potato, kale and beetroot make up an impressive 55% of this recipe. This helps to provide as pleasant “bulk” to the food, while the nutrients contained within the vegetables are slowly released over an extended period of time.

Mobility Support Formula with Glucosamine

Dogs that are heavier than they should be can be at increased risk of joint problems such as inflammation. Here two supplements popular among those seeking to support healthy joints are incorporated; glucosamine and green lipped mussel extra. This ensures a regular, reliable intake of these nutrients, without the inherent difficulties of trying to feed capsules or tablets to your pet when they are fed separately.

Introduce the diet gradually over a period of 5-7 days from as early as 3 weeks of age. It is recommended to feed young dogs at least 4 times a day and at least 3 times a day from 2-4 months of age, then twice a day thereafter. Feed sufficient to maintain a steady growth, allowing weight gain to match skeletal development.

Do not allow any change in diet to coincide with weaning or moving to a new owner. The product can be fed dry or moistened with water or gravy to the consistency that your dog prefers. Typically a thorough mix of 2 parts warm water with 3 parts of dry weight dog food is preferred.

The amounts shown on the label are only a guide and you should only feed sufficient amounts to maintain condition dependent upon the level of activity enjoyed and the conformation of your dog. Always ensure that clean, fresh water is available at all times. There is no requirement to supplement this diet with fresh meat.
