Energy

About to reach for a mid-afternoon energy drink to blast away the cobwebs? Stop. All too often we rely on overly caffeinated and sugary drinks which, while effectively boosting energy levels, also cause jitteriness, energy crashes and are extremely bad for our health. If you find that your busy lifestyle is draining your energy levels, take action to overcome fatigue with simple changes to your diet and lifestyle habits. Start by eating for energy. Protein and carbohydrates are hugely important for sustained energy throughout the day and energy packed snacks such as fruits, nuts and cheese help to starve off feelings of fatigue. Dehydration is a common cause of fatigue so ensure you drink at least 2 litres of water each day while avoid energy zappers such as coffee and sugar. And most importantly, make sure you’re consuming enough calories, don’t run on empty! Increasingly, people are turning to herbal remedies such as Ginseng and Ginkgo Biloba for natural energy lifts, and these are proving to be effective additions to the diet.
